Spring School 2014

The First Spring School for students and doctoral candidates was organised on 25-27.04 by PTNCE and the Institute of Psychology at the University of Wroclaw.

Place: Wrocław, Institute of Psychology (25.04.2014) and Szklarska Poręba, lodge Hala Szrenicka (26-27.04.2014).

Organisers: Dr Piotr Sorokowski and Agnieszka Sabiniewicz.

Course instructors:

– Prof. Andrzej Szmajke (Institute of Psychology, the University of Opole),
– Dr Dariusz Danel (Institute of Anthropology of the Polish Academy of Sciences),
– Dr Piotr Sorokowski (Institute of Psychology, the University of Wroclaw).

Additional information:

The classes started in Wrocław, at the Institute of Psychology, with Prof. Bogusław Pawłowski’s (Department of Human Biology, the University of Wroclaw) lecture on the place of evolutionary psychology among related sciences. In the next lecture, Prof. Andrzej Szmajke (Institute of Psychology, the University of Opole) talked about the criteria of physical attractiveness of the human figure. The last class of the day was given by Dr Piotr Sorokowski (Institute of Psychology, the University of Wroclaw) on publishing papers in international journals.

The part of the workshop took place in Szklarska Poręba in the Hala Szrenicka lodge. Ideas were discussed in teams of three people and then consulted with one of the three instructors: Dr Piotr Sorokowski, Dr Dariusz Danel (Institute of Anthropology of the Polish Academy of Sciences) and Prof. Pawłowski.

Twelve students and doctoral candidates, who submitted the most interesting research projects in evolutionary psychology, qualified for the Spring School. They included representatives of psychology, pedagogy, biology and neurobiology from Wrocław, Warsaw, Cracow, Poznań and Bydgoszcz.
